The History Of Sports In Utah (The beginner’s guide)

KSL Sports and Deseret News have produced this handy little starter’s guide for youngsters, The History Of Sports In Utah.

(h/t @gregwrubell)

It’s a fun little publication for the school kids, though one might argue that the more accurate name here would be The History Of Sports In Salt Lake.

There are a few minor (league) omissions: The Ogden Reds, Dodgers, Spikers, A’s and Raptors are missing in action on the baseball page, as are the Provo Angels/Orem Owlz. To be fair, the ridiculous Z in Owlz should be omitted whenever possible.

The Utah Blaze don’t make an appearance, either. USU and WSU get a couple of token mentions (Basketball: “Weber State and Utah State also have enjoyed success for decades”), but Southern Utah and Utah Valley don’t.

The most glaring omission of all: How on earth do the legendary Utah Snowbears, the greatest minor league basketball team to never finish a season, not get a mention? <rimshot>
